How do I make an appointment for counselling?

Call Merilyn directly. The first consultation may be organised by phoning or emailing Merilyn and can normally be organised within a week. If Merilyn is unavailable to take telephone calls, please leave a message with the best times to contact you, and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

You do not need a referral to make an appointment unless you intend to receive a Medicare rebate.

How many counselling sessions will I require?

In the initial 55 minute sessions we will develop a flexible treatment plan. Initially the sessions may be weekly or fortnightly as appropriate. However, the frequency of sessions will be according to your needs and will normally decrease over the course of treatment.

The number of subsequent sessions required depends on several factors, including the complexity, nature and duration of your difficulties. Your goals for treatment and your level of participation in proposed tasks outside of sessions also influence required number of consultations. Typically people require between 5 - 15 sessions, but a simple issue may take only a couple of sessions and complex issues may require more.
